Let them curse the Christian
Two possible reasons
    1. God could be bringing his discipline upon the church
        1. Is the church satisfied with what God has given?
        2. Is Christ not enough?
        3. Do we look elsewhere for pleasure?
        4. Though free, are we submitting to His commands?
        5. How many fake Christians will leave when the cursing comes?
        6. Is it just or unjust suffering?
2. We NEED to suffer unjustly!
        1. The world doesn’t need a reason to hate the Christian
        2. Be in subjection to EVEN the unjust master
        3. If we do wrong we DESERVE to suffer
        4. BUT – If we do right and suffer ‘this is a gracious thing in the sight of God
1 Peter 2:21 ESV
    • We are called to suffer unjustly
        • Are you earthly minded or heavenly minded?
            • Earthly – “It’s not fair”
                • “Woe is me, gloom and despair”
            • Heavenly – “It’s not fair, this suffering is such a small thing compared to our inheritance”
                • Give no reason for suffering
    • NO we want REVENGE
        • We will hold grudges!
1 Peter 3:9 ESV
Romans 12:19-21 ESV
Rom 13:1  Let every person be subject to the governing authorities.
Paul transitions into the SAME TOPIC, Peter is discussing!
Jeremiah 29:7 ESV
To those who are offended, do you NOT fear God?
WWJD comes from verses 21 – 25
(21)  For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.
(22)  He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth.  (9)  although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth.
(23)  When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, (7)  He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth.
but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.
(24)  He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. (4)  Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows;
By his wounds you have been healed.  (5)  But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.
(25)  For you were straying like sheep, (6)  All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
Is there any case where you don’t submit?
    • When it directly violates God’s law
        • Midwifes were told to kill the babies
        • Fiery furnace – Wouldn’t worship the king
        • Peter was told to not preach the gospel
            • However!!!
                • Are you being paid to work?
                    • Then work!!!
                    • Render to your master what is his!
                    • Also, Christians don’t seek handouts, when they don’t need them!  They work
(15)  For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people.
    • The world already hates you, because they are ignorant and foolish!!!
        • They didn’t have a “real” reason to crucify Christ
        • Do they have a reason to hate you?  Are you a Christian?
