OWE LOVE BECAUSE OF LOVE

Proverbs 22:7 ESV The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender.

Borrow eggs! – Story

Means to pay your debts when you owe them. TAXES, REVENUE, RESPECT

(8) Owe no one anything, except to love each other,
POINT – Love is always owed
This debt can never be paid in full – ON EARTH

(8) …for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law
Christ came into the world to provide a way for you to continue to sin???
John 14:15 ESV “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

Do you obey your parents to PROVE to them and yourself that you really do love them?
Or
Do you obey your parents because you love them?
*********
Do you obey your boss to EARN their respect?
Or
Do you obey your boss because of you respect?
*********
Do you obey Christ to EARN or PROVE your love?
Or
Do you obey Christ because of your love?

If we love Christ our desire is to keep His commandments
*********
Our conduct is based on our understanding of who we really are
Our position in the family

1 Peter 2:9-10
2 Samuel 9:1-11
 Mephibosheth was still crippled, but ate daily at the kings table as one of the Kings own sons.
 David sought him out
 David summoned him – Called him out of DARKNESS
 David brought him in
 Mephibosheth – Remarks, “What is your servant …show regard for a dead dog such as I”
 Mephibosheth – Knew the gutter he came out of, knew he has no right of his own to be at the table.
 Be positive as to your status in the family
 A king’s son has no guarantee to be the smartest, fastest, strongest BUT he is the kings son
 His relationship to the king is all he needs
 He need not prove himself to the world
 No matter how he “feels” about himself he is still the king’s son
 Change started with David, not himself
 He must look to David for his provisions
 For daily kingdom living

(9) …”You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Luke 10:29-37
 Jews and Samaritans – Didn’t get along
 Priest walked by on the other side of the road
 Levite walked by on the other side of the road
 Samaritan had compassion
 How many times do we pass by on the other side of the road
 Well God I didn’t harm him
 I am not guilty of sin, AM I???
 Passive
 Command is ACTIVE
 “You go, and do likewise.”
