Think about this…  As the vast majority of “religious” people were crying: Crucify! Crucify! Crucify!  One man was gaining entrance to heaven.  One man was going to watch the victory march through heaven as Jesus makes his triumphant entrance!  What set this man apart from all other men?  What qualities in this man made him turn to Christ?  Listen or watch as the story unfolds.

  • Why? On what authority!
  • Why the wilderness vs. temple?
    • Why a manger?
    • Why a peasant mother and not a Princes
  • God does it His way!
  • Jesus is not revealed YET!

“but among you stands one you do not know”

Tomorrow!  Child’s Birthday or Christmas

  • Can’t sleep!
  • Presents – Can I open them now?

  • What you needed vs. wanted! Sad…
  • What if you wanted what you needed, and got it?
  • As children with the a present of all presents!
  • Don’t be hardened by repetition!
  • Don’t be hardened by familiarity!
  • Don’t be hardened by indifference
  • Whether you are 5 or 85, take JOY

Behold!

LOOK! And SEE!

Behold! The Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

 

Many, many lambs were given but only ONE Lamb of God (many names):

God Provides

  • Think… This ram was born for a purpose – God
  • The ram was raised for a purpose – God
  • Must have been the finest RAM in all the earth.
    • Figure of Christ!

But Hebrews 10:4 ESV  For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

 

Behold! The Lamb of God

Without blemish!  – Raised for a purpose

Without spot  – Raised for a purpose

Perfect WITHOUT Sin

God’s only begotten son!

God made out to be a mean tyrant!  Would you do what he did?

 

Mother’s & Father’s – Would you send your only son to die for a stranger?

 

John 1:10 ESV  He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him.

 

Mother’s & Father’s – Would you send your only son to die for your enemy?

 

Colossians 1:21-22 ESV

Behold! The Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

 

  • No true church believes “world” means every single person’s sin!
  • World – Every person without distinction!
  • Jews and Gentiles!

 

John 3:16 ESV  “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

 

Who are the whoevers?  – You???

Do the whoever’s have some special quality? – Enables them to come?

  • Target marketing – Special Forces?

 

Prisoner (many crimes) in maximum security, tattoos, scars, BUT now believes on Jesus vs. the little old lady down the street, who passes out candy to the children but does not know Christ.

  • Who is treated with more dignity now?
  • Who will be treated with dignity later? – Offensive?
  • How can a criminal come to know Christ but not the little old lady?

 

John 1:13 ESV

  • There is hope for all through God, not man. – It doesn’t matter what you have done, it’s what CHRIST has done!

 

Luke 23:39-43 ESV

John 1:6 ESV  There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

 

He said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

 

John was put in prison!

John was beheaded!

 

Joh 19:5   Pilate said, “Behold the man!”

Joh 19:6  When the chief priests and the officers saw him, they cried out, “Crucify him, crucify him!”

 

So, Jesus was crucified and so were the sins of the world!
